Pastoral Continuing Education.
The Institute believes that there is currently a lack of high-quality, rigorous theological education available for parish pastors. While pastors can satisfy their continuing education requirements in many ways, they often admit that their educational opportunities rarely, if ever, challenge them intellectually or theologically. Because
the institute believes that the parish pastor is primarily a theologian, it aims to provide educational experiences for pastors that are wholly theological.
Pastors wishing to receive the Institute's theological education course credit (TEC) can complete week long summer seminars, or day long instructional programs. TEC is roughly figured as 1 TEC for four contact hours and is assigned as follows:
This past summer, for instance, Steve Paulson offered a standard summer seminar course entitled “Categorical Preaching” at Mount Carmel as part of the institute's theological summer seminar.
